| The Franklin County Sheriff's Office has three Detectives which form its
Investigative Services Division.
One Detective is dedicated to the Northwest Unit for
Special Investigations. This Detective works under the Special Prosecutor
in the investigation and arrest of offenders in incidents of sexual assault,
and child abuse and neglect. It is a full time position and the Detective
is based at the NUSI Office in St. Albans.
Additionally, William Northrup, who was assigned to a position under
the City of St. Albans’s Grants to Encourage Arrests, took over
a part-time Investigator position under the Rural Justice Grant administered
by this office. Bill is based at the Franklin County State’s Attorneys
Office and is responsible for the follow up of domestic abuse cases.
A Detective Sergeant works directly from the Sheriff's
Office located at 387 Lake Road in St. Albans. This is a full time
position and the Detective Sergeant serves at the direction of the Sheriff.
The main priority is that of support to the Uniformed Services Division
of the Office. Assistance is given to uniformed deputies in real-time
investigations, as well as investigations developed from sources.
