FRANKLIN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE PRESS RELEASE TYPE OF INCIDENT: DUI-Accident OFFICER: Kachajian DATE OF INCIDENT: 03-26-06 TIME OF INCIDENT: 0015 LOCATION OF INCIDENT: Sandy Birch Road @ Sand Hill Road NAME: RHEAUME, Nicki AGE: 17 ADDRESS: Swanton, VT IF ACCIDENT, VEHICLE YEAR & MODEL: 1994 Toyota Pickup DAMAGE (LOCATION, YEAR & MODEL) : Extensive Front End Damage INJURIES (NAME, NATURE OF INJURIES, WHICH VEHICLE, WHERE PATIENT TAKEN): #1: Rheaume – Possible Broken Jaw, teeth and internal injuries – Vehicle #1 - NMC SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 032606 at approximately 0015 hours, Deputy Kachajian was dispatched to the area of Sandy Birch Road and Sand Hill Road in the Town of Georgia for a report of a one car motor vehicle accident with injuries. The Sheriff’s Office was also advised by a witness on scene, via telephone, that the female operator of the vehicle, later identified as a Ms. Nicki Rheaume, may be intoxicated. Upon arrival on scene with Georgia Rescue and AmCare Ambulance, it was determined that Ms. Rheaume had been seriously injured as a result of the accident and that she needed immediate medical attention. Ms. Rheaume was transported to NMC in St. Albans for treatment. Upon further investigation at both the accident scene and at the hospital, Deputy Kachajian determined that Ms. Rheaume was the operator of the vehicle and that alcohol was almost certainly involved as the reason for the crash. Charges against Ms. Rheaume will be forthcoming pending blood alcohol test results taken at the hospital as evidence. The investigation into the accident is ongoing at this time.
