FRANKLIN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE PRESS RELEASE TYPE OF INCIDENT: DUI OFFICER: Kachajian DATE OF INCIDENT: 03/25/06 TIME OF INCIDENT: 19:44 LOCATION OF INCIDENT: Route 104 @ Toof Road, Fairfax, VT NAME: MORIN, Jasen AGE: 31 ADDRESS: Shelburne, VT IF ACCIDENT, VEHICLE YEAR & MODEL: 2001 Subaru Forester SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 032506 at approximately 1944 hours, Deputy Kachajian was in the vicinity of Route 104 and Toof Road in the Town of Fairfax running radar when he observed a blue Subaru Forester, being operated by Jasen Morin, traveling at a speed at which the deputy estimated to be in excess of the 50 mph zone for that area. Cruiser radar soon showed that the vehicle in question was traveling at 80 mph in the 50 mph zone. Deputy Kachajian subsequently pulled the vehicle over to the side of the road and spoke with the operator about the violation. The Sheriff’s Office dispatch later informed the deputy that DMV records were indicating that Mr. Morin’s license in Vermont was criminally suspended twice for life. As a result of further investigation at the scene of the stop, it was determined that Mr. Morin was driving his vehicle under the influence of alcohol. Mr. Morin was later placed under arrest and transported to the Sheriff’s Office in St. Albans for processing. Mr. Morin was released on a citation to appear for the charges of DUI-Alcohol, Criminal License Suspension and Excessive Speed. The operator was also issued a speeding ticket.
