FRANKLIN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE PRESS RELEASE TYPE OF INCIDENT: Motor Vehicle Accident OFFICER: Kachajian DATE OF INCIDENT: 03-12-06 TIME OF INCIDENT: 1805 LOCATION OF INCIDENT: County Road, St. Albans Town NAME: Beauregard, Danny AGE: 34 ADDRESS: Maquam Shore Road, St. Albans IF ACCIDENT, VEHICLE YEAR & MODEL: 2000 Ford F350 pickup DAMAGE (LOCATION, YEAR & MODEL): Destroyed by Fire INJURIES (NAME, NATURE OF INJURIES, WHICH VEHICLE, WHERE PATIENT TAKEN): #1: Machia, Ashley – Front Seat Passenger – Taken to NMC by passing motorist SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 03-12-06 at approximately 1805pm, Deputies Kachajian, Mason, and Lynch responded to the area of County Road approximately ¼ mile north of Lower Newton Road in St. Albans Town for a report of a one car motor vehicle accident with injuries and possible entrapment. Upon arrival on scene with the St. Albans Town Fire Department, the deputies observed that the vehicle was completely engulfed in flames and that the front of the truck had sustained extensive front end damage. The vehicle appeared to have driven off the roadway going south on County Road and had struck a group of trees off the road in a ditch. Neither the driver, later identified as a Mr. Danny Beauregard, or his passenger, later identified as a Ms. Ashley Machia, were in the area. Upon further investigation it was learned that Ms. Machia was driven to the hospital by a passing motorist a short time before rescue personnel arrived. Deputy Kachajian later interviewed Ms. Machia at NMC while being treated for facial and internal injuries regarding the accident. Ms. Machia advised the deputy that the operator of the truck, Danny Beauregard had left her in the vehicle after it crashed and fled the scene. Ms. Machia also told Deputy Kachajian that after a few minutes, she was able to free herself from the vehicle and got out just before the vehicle caught on fire. As of the time of this press release, Mr. Beauregard has not been located. According to the passenger, both parties were wearing their seatbelts at the time of the crash, but it is unknown whether the airbags were deployed due to the fire damage. Investigation into this accident is ongoing.
