FRANKLIN COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE PRESS RELEASE TYPE OF INCIDENT: Motor Vehicle Accident OFFICER: Kachajian DATE OF INCIDENT: 02-28-06 TIME OF INCIDENT: 1436 LOCATION OF INCIDENT: Huntville Road, Fairfax NAME: RUSHFORD, Harley Jr AGE: 66 ADDRESS: Slattery Road, East Fairfield IF ACCIDENT, VEHICLE YEAR & MODEL: 2001 Dodge Pickup DAMAGE (LOCATION, YEAR & MODEL): Extensive Front End Damage INJURIES (NAME, NATURE OF INJURIES, WHICH VEHICLE, WHERE PATIENT TAKEN): #1: RUSHFORD – Unknown Possible Injuries – Northwestern Medical Center SUMMARY OF INCIDENT: On 02-28-06 at approximately 1436 hours, Deputy Kachajian was dispatched to the area of Huntville Road in front of St. Luke’s Church for a report of a one car motor vehicle accident with possible injuries. Upon arrival on scene Deputy Kachajian observed a blue Dodge pickup truck off of the roadway in front of the church. The vehicle sustained extensive front end damage. It was later determined through investigation that the operator of the truck, Harley Rushford, Jr., had been drinking and had driven off the roadway. In the process of going off the road, Mr. Rushford struck a utility pole in front of the church and severed it at the base. Mr. Rushford was alter transported to NMC for evaluation. Mr. Rushford was later processed by Deputy Sieverding at the hospital for DUI. Vermont State Police and Fairfax Fire & Rescue assisted at the crash scene.
